Making the Most of a Book Shelve

Book shelves come in a lot of fun designs and if you’re the sort who likes to keep a few good books in your living area it may be just the thing. What’s tough is filling up the empty space on your book shelve or managing the different book sizes while still coming up with a clean look.

You know how it’s unwise (not to mention messy) to put all your best decoration items on the coffee table or on the mantle, well your book shelve can be the place where you can add as many things as you want. Some of your bigger and heavier pieces can act as dividers and can prevent books from falling over. If you don’t have anything that big enough to act as a book end you can always go out and find one. The book end variety is huge from classical to fun or elegant.

All the shelves don’t need to be the same size, it’s perfectly okay if some shelves are higher than others, that way you can fit the taller books and the bigger decoration pieces. Decoration that you can use in a book shelf aren’t limited to book ends, you can go so far as to put frames or tall vases (the bid slender ones look the best) in the shelves that are tall enough.

Always remember to keep everything balanced, don’t overcrowd one shelf with all the big and tall pieces and clutter another with the smaller ones. The size of your items should complement the size of the books.
